BUCYRUS-Students at Bucyrus Elementary School will have
a new principal and assistant principal when they head back to school this
fall.
The Bucyrus City School District Board of Education approved
a new Principal and Associate Principal for the Bucyrus Elementary School (BES)
during its regular monthly meeting July 31.
Timothy Souder was promoted to the position of Elementary
School Principal. Souder, who has been with the district since 2001 as a math
coach and math teacher, most recently served as the Associate Principal at BES.
“We are very fortunate to have Mr. Souder taking the
leadership role as Principal of our Elementary School,” said Bucyrus
Superintendent Kevin Kimmel. “He has been instrumental in the implementation of
The Leader in Me program and several other successful programs geared at
helping our students develop into well-rounded young men and women.”
The board also approved Michael Wallace as the new Associate
Principal of the Elementary School. Wallace joins the Bucyrus district with
eighteen years of principal experience, most recently in the Mansfield and Findlay
City Schools. He has also overseen the implementation of The Leader in Me
program in two separate buildings in the Findlay district.
“We are excited to welcome Mr. Wallace to the Redmen
family,” said Kimmel. “He brings a wealth of educational knowledge and
experience to BES, as well as an intricate understanding of The Leader in Me
program, which is a major point of emphasis and pride in the Elementary
School.”
The board approved all other agenda items as presented, and
then recessed to executive session with no additional action being taken. The
next regular meeting of the Bucyrus Board of Education will begin at 7 p.m. in
the Lincoln Administrative Center Thursday, Aug. 24.
