Bucyrus Police Reports-Aug. 3-8

Thursday, August 3, 2017
9:57 a.m.- Officers relayed a message to a resident in the 1400 block of Hopley Avenue for the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
11:14 a.m.- A report of loud music was investigated in the 400 block of East Lucas Street.
1:05 p.m.- A bicyclist was given a verbal warning for violating traffic rules in the Marion Road and Beal Avenue area.
2:12 p.m.- A report of a suspicious man in the Schaber and Tiffin Street area was checked into.
3:05 p.m.- A traffic citation was issued in the area of Sandusky and Irving Street.
3:08 p.m.- Dustin Angel, 31, was arrested on charges of obstruction and drug paraphernalia. He was
issued summons to appear in court and taken to the Crawford County Justice Center to be held on a
probation violation.
3:31 p.m.- A two-vehicle accident in the area of Charles Street and Sandusky Avenue was investigated.
3:55 p.m.- A disturbance in the 200 block of South Lane Street was investigated.
4:59 p.m.- Officers assisted the Crestline Police Department with an interview at the police department.
5:01 p.m.- A report of a malnourished dog in the 1100 block of Whetstone Street was investigated.
An agent with the Humane Society arrived on scene to further investigate.
7:46 p.m.- A verbal traffic warning was issued in the area of Sandusky Avenue and Plymouth Street.
8:49 p.m.- A verbal traffic warning was issued on Hopley Avenue.
9:07 p.m.- A report of an open door at a vacant residence on South Walnut Street was investigated.
9:11 p.m.- A 9-1-1 open line from the area of Hopley Avenue and Robinhood Drive was
investigated. No one was located in the area needing assistance.
9:15 p.m.- A 9-1-1 open line from the area of Mansfield Street and Penn Avenue was investigated.
 No one was located in the area needing assistance.
9:33 p.m.- A building found open in the 100 block of North Poplar Street was checked and re-secured by officers.
11:53 p.m.- Officers checked the area in the 100 block of West Mansfield Street after a report of a
possible drunk driver in the area. They were unable to locate the vehicle.

12:20 a.m.- Officers checked the area in the 400 block of North Sandusky Avenue after receiving a
complaint of a suspicious male in the area.
12:35 a.m.- Officers spoke to a man in the 500 block of South Sandusky Avenue regarding his
driving status.
1:33 a.m.- Officers investigated a report of a disturbance in the Bucyrus Plaza area.
1:54 a.m.- Officer spoke to a woman in the 500 block of South Sandusky Avenue regarding a
possible stolen vehicle. The claim was unfounded.
3:39 a.m.- Officers assisted Life Support Team Ambulance in the 200 block of East Warren Street.
9:15 a.m.- Officers are investigating a report of a truck that was stolen from City lot 3 and wrecked in
the 600 block of Tiffin Street.
1:20 p.m.- Officers spoke to a woman in the 600 block of North Sandusky Avenue that was assaulted.
1:33 p.m.- Officers spoke to a man in the 400 block of West Mansfield Street whose son is being
threatened by someone he knows.
1:42 p.m.- A resident in the Bucyrus Plaza area reported a full-sized bed stolen from her home.
2:37 p.m.- A resident in the 1200 block of East Southern Avenue reported her purse stolen.
2:57 p.m.- A domestic disturbance in the 100 block of East Lucas Street was investigated. One of the
parties left the scene and charges are pending. The other party received medical attention.
3:11 p.m.- Officers checked the welfare of a resident in the 200 block of Wayne Avenue.
3:19 p.m.- A Bucyrus resident reported a possible protection order violation.
4:16 p.m.- Officers checked on a reported suspicious vehicle behind Walmart.
5:19 p.m.- A fight in the 800 block of Grove Avenue was investigated.
5:37 p.m.- A private property collision at Speedway was one vehicle backing into another.
6:01 p.m.- A two-vehicle non-injury crash in the area of Faustina and Oakwood Avenues was
investigated and the driver at fault was cited for failure to reinstate license. The driver of the second
vehicle also had a registration expired since January.
6:44 p.m.- A warning was issued to a person soliciting without a permit in the 100 block of Crescent Court.
7:21 p.m.- A report of someone breaking mason jars in the roadway on Union Avenue was investigated.
7:30 p.m.- A loud music complaint was investigated at Bucyrus Plaza and all was quiet.
7:38 p.m.- A Bucyrus resident came to the police department to retrieve a stolen bicycle that had been turned in.
8:32 p.m.- Officers assisted staff members at Altercare with a patient refusing to come back into the facility.
9:19 p.m.- Officers assisted a resident in the 500 block of South Walnut Street by removing a bat from the residence.
10:08 p.m.- A resident in the 900 block of Rogers Street requested officers check her residence after she heard a noise. No one was located in or around the residence.
11:05 p.m.- Officers responded to a disturbance in the 700 block of South East Street and Donald
Benedict, 44, Bucyrus, was arrested for domestic violence. He is being held pending a court
appearance.
11:56 p.m.- Officers investigated a report of a noise disturbance in the Bucyrus Plaza area.

12:07 a.m.- Officers assisted a resident in getting a critter out of the house in the 1500 block of East
Mansfield Street.
12:38 a.m.- Officers investigated a complaint of loud music coming from the 100 block of West
Oakwood Avenue.
12:43 a.m.- A report of a disturbance in the Wilber Street and Beverly Drive area was two juveniles
bouncing a basketball and they went inside for the night.
2:00 a.m.- A report of a disturbance in the 300 block of West Warren Street was a loud party.
5:34 a.m.- Officers assisted a man on retrieving his property in the 1100 block of West Mansfield
Street.
10:23 a.m.- Officers were contacted for a welfare check in the 100 block of East Rensselaer Street
and the man was found ok.
10:32 a.m.- Officers assisted a female get medical attention in the 500 block of South Sandusky
Avenue.
12:21 p.m.- Officers attempted to serve a warrant in the 200 block of East Irving Street.
1:02 p.m.- A report of theft of money in the 200 block of West Mansfield Street was investigated.
2:00 p.m.- Officers attempted to serve a warrant in the 1200 block of Sherwood Drive.
2:10 p.m.- Officers attempted to serve a warrant in the 500 block of East Rensselaer Street.
3:24 p.m.- A resident in the 300 block of Blicke Street was warned regarding his dogs running loose.
3:40 p.m.- Officers attempted to locate a man to speak to him about a domestic complaint.
4:23 p.m.- Officers picked up an abandoned bike in the 500 block of North Sandusky Avenue.
4:39 p.m.- A private property collision was investigated in the Walmart lot.
5:08 p.m.- Officers investigated a report of a disturbance in the 1700 block of Marion Road.
5:22 p.m.- Officers investigated a report of a theft of motorcycle parts in the 900 block of West
Mansfield Street.
5:30 p.m.- Officers investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 1100 block of Rosedale
Avenue and they were subcontractors for Century Link installing a line.
5:52 p.m.- Officers spoke to a couple in the 100 block of Fisher Street regarding a domestic dispute.
6:13 p.m.- Officers spoke to a man receiving harassing text messages in the 500 block of South
Sandusky Avenue.
7:08 p.m.- Officers spoke to a person regarding a lost wallet at Krogers.
7:38 p.m.- A resident in the 900 block of Rogers Street reported a tree limb fell on her vehicle. There
was no damage to the vehicle.
7:46 p.m.- Officers investigated a 911 hang up call in the 500 block of Failor Avenue and it was a
child that accidentally dialed.
8:14 p.m.- Officers investigated a possible sex crime.  The claim was unfounded.
9:39 p.m.- Officers spoke to three young children running in the roadway in the 1600 block of
Marion Rpad. They were all taken to their home nearby.
10:16 p.m.- A report of a dog barking continuously in the Southern and Faustina area was unfounded.
10:51 p.m.- Officers gave a verbal warning to a resident in the 100 block of Dudley Street for
fireworks.
10:56 p.m.- A report of a disturbance in the 100 block of Plymouth Street was an injured person
walking to the hospital, and he arrived there for medical attention.
11:44 p.m.- Officers attempted to locate a possible domestic in a vehicle in the 200 block of North
Sandusky Avenue.
11:59 p.m.- Officers responded to an alarm at New Day Ministries, 301 E. Warren St. It appears the
church has been entered and it is unknown if anything is missing at this time.

12:06 a.m.- Officers investigated a report of a vandalism complaint in the 1700 block of Marion
Road.
12:04 a.m.- Officers assisted Shelby Police in attempting to locate a man in the 300 block of Songer
Avenue.
2:07 a.m.- A man reported being assaulted by another man he knows while in the 100 block of West
Mansfield Street.
4:11 a.m.- Officers investigated a report of a disturbance in the 400 block of Heritage Circle. It was a
minor domestic issue and a person was escorted to a relative’s home.
8:35 a.m.- A sick fox was dispatched in the 400 block of West Mansfield Street.
9:12 a.m.- Officers mediated a domestic issue in the 800 block of South Sandusky Avenue.
12:24 p.m.- Officers spoke to a young man about car seat safety in the 500 block of South Sandusky
Avenue.
1:02 p.m.- Officers assisted an intoxicated female in the Lane and Mansfield Street area. She was
turned over to a sober party.
1:23 p.m.- Officers received a complaint of dirt bikes on Inez Street. They were gone upon officers
arrival.
2:08 p.m.- A report of a cat stuck in the engine of a truck was investigated on East Rensselaer Street.
The owner of the truck was contacted and will take care of the animal.
2:18 p.m.- Officers spoke to a man on station about a custody issue.
2:54 p.m.- A domestic disturbance in the 1000 block of Hopley Avenue was a custody issue.
3:59 p.m.- A report of a motorcyclist driving erratically in the area of Lane and Charles Street was investigated and a warning issued to the operator.
4:24 p.m.- A traffic citation was issued in the area of East and Charles Streets.
4:32 p.m.- An open line 9-1-1 call was investigated in the 300 block of West Mansfield Street. No
one was located in the area.
5:39 p.m.- Officers attempted to check the welfare of a resident in the 800 block of Elm Street for
Community Counseling.  They were unable to make contact.
5:54 p.m.- A traffic warning was issued in the area of North Sandusky Avenue and US 30.
6:00 p.m.- Officers attempted contact at a residence in the 400 block of West Charles Street for a civil
custody exchange. They were unable to make contact with anyone at the home.
7:25 p.m.- Officers checked the welfare of a resident in the 400 block of East Mansfield Street.
7:31 p.m.- The Fire Department was contacted for smoke in the Police Garage behind City Hall.
8:17 p.m.- A domestic disturbance in the 800 block of Cleland Avenue was resolved and a warning issued against trespassing by one of the parties.
8:31 p.m.- A report of a missing wallet was unfounded with the wallet located.
8:52 p.m.- A report of a possible intoxicated driver on East Mansfield Street was investigated and
forwarded to the Ohio State Patrol as the driver was leaving town.
9:25 p.m.- Officers responded with the Bucyrus Fire Department to a call of smoke at Wendy’s. The
business was evacuated while the firefighters checked the area.
10:15 p.m.- Officers responded with EMS personnel to an injured female that had fallen in the area of
Sandusky Avenue and Crescent Court.
11:03 p.m.- The K-9 unit assisted the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office on Marion-Melmore Road.
11:l07 p.m.- Officers conducted a civil stand by for property exchange in the S. Spring St. area.
11:11 p.m.- Officers assisted a citizen in the Sherman St. area.
11:25 p.m.- A report of a barking dog in the 900 block of Faustina Avenue was checked and a
warning issued.
Monday, August 7, 2017
2:08 a.m.- A male reported his bicycle stolen while in the 1500 block of Marion Road. Officers
recovered his bicycle and returned it to him.
4:51 a.m.- A report of a suspicious male in the area of Melody Lane area was unfounded.
10:22 a.m.- Chengjie Lin, 40, was arrested at the police department on an active Crawford County warrant. He was released pending a court appearance.
10:49 a.m.- Officers spoke to a man at Riley Reservoir after a report of a suspicious man in the area.
11:53 a.m.- Officers investigated a report of a disturbance in the 400 block of East Charles Street.
12:32 p.m.- Officers assisted Bucyrus Fire Department in the 600 block of Prospect Street.
1:24 p.m.- Officers spoke to a resident in the 300 block of Ridge Avenue regarding riding a dirt bike
in the area.
1:54 p.m.- Officers attempted contact with a female in the 500 block of Jones Street. No one
answered the door.
2:13 p.m.- A report of loud music in the 1400 block of Marion Road was unfounded.
2:29 p.m.- Officers investigated a report of a vehicle with smoke coming from it on East Mansfield
Street. The vehicle was located at a repair shop.
3:16 p.m.- Officers spoke to a resident at the police department about a previous theft.
3:33 p.m.- An officer was waved down to speak to a resident in the 200 block of Wayne Avenue with
questions about a vehicle.
3:41 p.m.- A customer at the BMV reported his wallet stolen from the counter.
4:38 p.m.- Officers attempted to serve a warrant on Kaler Avenue.
5:15 p.m.- A juvenile in the 700 block of Prospect Street reported being shot in the arm by a BB.
5:30 p.m.- Officers checked the welfare of a resident in the 900 block of Woodlawn Avenue.
5:37 p.m.- Officers responded with EMS personnel for an unknown medical emergency in the 1300
block of Woodlawn Avenue.
6:31 p.m.- A Bucyrus resident came to the police department to speak with an officer about someone
threatening to release private information about him unless he pays them money.
6:40 p.m.- A resident in the 400 block of Charlotte Street reported a laptop stolen from the residence.
8:14 p.m.- A domestic disturbance in the 300 block of Wiley Street was investigated.
9:03 p.m.- Officers attempted to check the welfare of a resident in the 400 block of West Warren Street.
10:24 p.m.- Officers attempted to serve a warrant in the 400 block of East Rensselaer Street.
11:30 p.m.- Officers assisted the Ohio State Patrol on State Route 30.
11:38 p.m.- Officers assisted a female in the area of East Southern Avenue and Rogers Street.
