BUCYRUS – The Bucyrus High School Science Club will host the Noah Lear Memorial Blood Drive with the American Red Cross from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm at Bucyrus High School in the Alex Kish Gymnasium Tuesday, July 18.
“Hosting a blood drive coincides with the Bucyrus High School Science Club core values of giving back to the community,” said Science Club co-advisor Pat Hargis. “With a simple blood donation, we can help save the life of someone who could be a co-worker, loved one or neighbor.”
Noah Lear is remembered by friends, family, and teammates for his dedication, positivity, and desire to help others. Noah, a junior at Bucyrus High School, tragically passed away on March 16, 2016, from injuries sustained during a pickup basketball game.
“Noah was an excellent student,” said Hargis. “We ask that everyone please consider making a donation in Noah’s memory.”
Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, B negative and A negative. According to the Red Cross, type O-negative is the universal blood type that can be safely transfused to anyone and is often used to treat trauma patients.
Donors will receive a Columbus Zoo Buy One, Get One entry offer, and enter a weekly drawing for four Zoombezi Bay passes. For more information or to make an appointment to donate, call 1-800-Red-Cross (1-800-733-2767) or sign up online at redcrossblood.org with sponsor code BucyrusHS.
